Dhows Downtown





These are dhows, the traditional fishing boats. The second, third and fourth pictures were taken in succession from left to right standing in one spot. Apparently they bring these dhows in on the weekend and just cram them in at this bay--there were literally hundreds here. A very cool sight, that's for sure. You can see in the second picture the city skyline where the malls are and in the last picture the world trade center towers that are under construction. Behind them is a shitload of recently reclaimed land, which is what the majority of the northern part of this country is--reclaimed. It's only a matter of time before this dock area is reclaimed as well. In fact, it was about 200 feet from a new major highway that was built all on reclaimed land.
