Kate in an abaya

Speaking of abayas, here is our esteemed colleague Kate rockin' out in her abaya. Kate did tarot card readings at the carnival, and I was lucky enough to snag a picture of her wearing this on her way out. The younger Arab women (and fashionable western women, apparently) are now starting to wear abayas that are a little more ornate, like Kate's sequin covered one here. And in my humble opinion, it really starts to defeat the original purpose of the abaya which is supposed to cover the women and not draw attention to her. Ones like these look more like a fancy black dress of some sort. Either way this is a great picture of Kate.
