Growing up on Lake Erie I never experienced tides. They are something of a new phenomenon to me, and so I get amused when I see shit like this. It's a fairly common sight to see boats stranded when the tide's out which makes me laugh. This time I had my camera for your amusement as well...

The pic of my flying Clio is there to give you an idea as to what was directly behind us. Here you have what appears to be a deserted beach but is really very close to to the city. This island is small, you can't go far without seeing some type of civilization. In fact, the other day I did the math for my students as to HOW small Bahrain is compared to the US.
