Fuck It Ahmed, FEATURE!

The latest fuck it Ahmed, it was a piece of shit anyway feature post is brought to you by the smashed-ass Mercedes that has been sitting like this down the street from my house for about 2 weeks. For around 4 days the license plate light was on, now the battery finally died and someone managed to pop the trunk up since I took this photo. Ah, I love this country.

Yeah.

That's a yellow Maserati in front of me in this photo. In the last few days I've spotted 3 Ferraris, a Lamborghini, and this Maserati. Ah, what oil money can get you.

Merry Christmas, here's your muffler

Snapped this one a while ago, but never posted it. This reminds me of something I'd see back in 'bula, not in the middle east. Made me laugh, I even had to drive by twice to get a good picture of it and still managed to get the fucking rear-view mirror in it (which by the way is still not fixed. GRRRRR)

Fuck it Ahmed, it was a piece of shit anyway. FEATURE!!!

There is a huge phenomenon here in Bahrain that I really don't understand. Apparently when these people get into accidents, they leave their cars wherever they may lie and let the forces that be take care of them. I've driven by cars that have been completely totaled next to the road everyday for weeks. So I've decided to start a new feature here at byroninbahrain.com, called "Did they die?" Wait... that sounds too insensitive. How about "Piece of shit of the week!" or "The insurance wouldn't take care of it so fuck that car" or "I was drunk when I hit him so I took off on foot!" I dunno, I'll think of something. Anyway, up this week are two cars I've been driving by for the last week. The first is a Camaro that has been moved from the point of impact (I think) but is still next to the road, presumably next to the owner's house. They have done something you don't normally see with wrecked cars in this country--they have attempted to preserve the interior from UV rays with a bedsheet. Here's a hint guys, for that to work effectively you have to cover the ENTIRE windshield. Well unless the driver's side is covered with the shade of the airbag and blood--in which case they should be golden.

Up next is a car that has sat near a very busy intersection in Juffair (where I live) for over a week. This seems to have been a simple accident, but for whatever reason the owner has yet to claim their Chrysler. Maybe the alignment was out...

300M getting a tire change--Bahrain style

This photo speaks for itself. A really expensive car, with really expensive rims, parked outside of a really expensive building being jacked up with bricks. Sometimes this country really cracks my ass up...

Oh, and those bricks? Those came from the sidewalk they were building near the car.

Arabs suck at event planning

Among many other things. Anyway, Rachel and I went to the F1 track the other day to watch a "drifting" event that they were having at the track as a promo for the Grand Prix this month. They also had advertised a British stunt motorcyclist which I was interested in seeing. It was free, and we were bored. So we said fuck it, went, and made it just in time to catch the motorcycle's second show, which was cool--from what we could see.

Ok, time for a rant. The Arabs suck at event planning, case-in-point this "drifting" event. The F1 track is huge, with plenty of grandstand seating for even the largest F1 crowd. So when I was reading about this event, where they promised to have professional car drivers "drifting" and the show bike guy where the admission was free, I expected to see a huge turnout because Arabs by and large are mooches. And I was right. When we got to the track, there were hundreds of people. So, common sense should dictate that free event+lots of marketing=lots of people. Then, common sense most likely would derive that lots of people should =ample area for them to view event. That's where they lack common senses. Instead of doing this event in the infield of the track where people could sit in the stands and everyone could get a clear view they instead did it in the parking lot. They erected a fence that was about 100 yards long that you could stand by of which only about 60 yards provided any type of view of the cars or motorcycle stunts. Besides the short glimpses I got of the motorcycle (see first picture) it really was a waste of time. They took what could have been a nice evening watching cars into a clusterfuck which is what I've learned the Arabs are good at doing.
